Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park is 8 acres of flora. It is usable for hiking, fishing, picnicking, equestrian purposes, bird watching, bicycling, inline skating and camping. There are even athletic facilities available, such as volleyball courts and a playground.
Moon Lake Park has 6.6 wooded acres, a beautiful lake and many ways for the young and old to enjoy themselves. The Pasco County park located in the Moon Lake subdivision features a playground, picnic shelter, basketball court and more. Visitors can take a dip in the lake, but there are no lifeguards.
This preserve, managed by the City of New Port Richey, is located on the banks of the Pithlascotee River. You can walk or paddle down the river as you explore the roughly 80-acre park, the entrance to which is located at the rear of a residential neighborhood.
Located on Deer Key, Robert K. Rees Memorial Park offers a fantastic view of the Gulf of Mexico. Tarpon Springs and Dunedin can be seen from the shore, where seagulls wade and sand shells lie buried in the sand.
The county park offers the chance to swim, boat, eat lunch under a picnic shelter or just relax as your child climbs on the playground.
Housed in the New Port Richey Recreation and Aquatics Center, this department manages all the city parks and recreation facilities. It is led by Director Elaine Smith and was chosen as Florida's "Number One Parks and Recreation Department" by the Florida Recreation and Park Association.
