The Parks and recreation Department of the City of Hot Springs is responsible for the care, maintenance, development and promotion of more than 17 city parks totaling over 160 acres, the downtown historic district, 30 acres of landscaped parkway, eight miles hiking and biking trails, and the citys annual holiday lighting displays. Cooperative programs of the Parks and recreation Department include coordination of volunteer activities and projects, participation/partnerships with other community service providers and grant preparation/administration.

Hot Springs originated from the thermal waters that flow into the historic downtown district of the city. Hot Springs city manages the street division of the public works operation department. Based in Hot Springs, Ark., Hot Springs Street Division builds and maintains streets and drainage systems. The division maintains street right of ways and other public property. It provides emergency services during inclement weather and supports the police and fire departments in emergencies. It also provides parking lots and maintenance services. The city has a city manager form of government taking care of several other departments.

The Gila County Public Works Division works for the development, improvement and maintenance of the county s infrastructure. The division is operated by the government of Gila County in Arizona. It specializes in engineering solutions and conducts surveys. The division also provides a range of floodplain, facility and land management solutions.
