Founded in 1998, Meadowlark Optics creates polarization optics from a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Frederick, Colo. Its first products were custom devices called pocket cells. A pocket-cell design uses a thin crystal that is about three millimeters thick. This device works in imaging beams and other uncollimated beams. Requiring up to 4,000 volts to operate, it switches at much greater speeds that liquid crystals. Since its inception, Meadowlark Optics has advanced into producing linear polarizers, dichroic polarizers and retarders. Its line of high-contrast near-infrared polarizers covers a spectral range from 630 to 1580 nanometers. Meadowlark Optics also offers custom polarizers to cover specific wavelengths.
