The company produces RGP lenses made with firm, oxygen permeable materials that resist protein and bacterial buildup. RGP lenses are ideal for astigmatics and presbyopia and present the only opportunity for vision correction for keratoconus, keratoplasty and keratotomy patients. Art Optical Contact Lens began as an ophthalmic lens manufacturer 1931. The company began making contact lenses in 1958 and ceased production of eyeglasses in 1984 in order to focus exclusively on RGP design and production.
