Green Buff is what many people imagine when they think of Eastern Washington: farms, fresh fruits and vegetables, picturesque views, animals, and a handful of adult beverage options sprinkled in the mix. Just a few miles outside of Spokane, a visit to this collective of growers makes for the perfect day trip. There are plenty of options to entertain kids, families, couples, and groups of all sizes.

Parking at Green Bluff
You'll want to come by car (or bike, if you're ambitious) since the best way to experience Green Bluff is to stop by at least a few different growers. Ease of parking will vary greatly depending on the farms that you're visiting, though most are as accommodating as possible. Do be prepared for dirt roads and gravel parking lots (so plan to wash your car afterward).

Best and worst time go to Green Bluff
Weekends in the spring, summer and fall are going to give you the most options since that's when many of the farms open for visitors and u-pick options. Most growers are very seasonal in their offerings (late winter is especially limited) so be sure to check the Green Bluff Growers website ahead of time. October is when many Spokane locals make the trek, taking advantage of Apple Festival and the many pumpkin patches.

Admission to Green Bluff
Growers don't charge visitor fees, however there are costs for the produce you'll be picking. Some of them are cash-only, and ATMs on the bluff are few and far between so you will want to plan ahead. On occasion, some farms will offer seasonal extras like corn mazes that have additional costs, too.

Must see/do at Green Bluff
The adults in your group won't want to miss the Townshend Cellar tasting room or Twilight Cider Works, while the little ones will enjoy seeing the Alpacas at Supersuris Alpaca Ranch (visible from the car even if you just drive by). If you happen to go during pumpkin season, make a point to visit Knapp's and check out the pumpkin cannon.

Or, if you've worked up an appetite picking berries, apples, or pumpkins, restaurants on the north side of town like local favorites The Onion or Didier's Yogurt & More make for great stops on your way back to the city.
