The Independence Mental Health Institute provides inpatient psychiatric treatment and specialized residential programs for adults, adolescents and children. The hospitals mission is to treat northeast Iowans that have mental problems and return them to their communities as soon as possible. Its service area includes nearly 30 counties in northeast Iowa. Services are provided to any person in need of mental health treatment regardless of ability to pay. The therapeutic effort is comprehensive and can include the use of medication, psychotherapy, group counseling, education and activity therapies. Community Pastoral Counseling Services specializes in marriage counseling, children, adolescent, family, addictions & substance abuse, sexual identity, sexual abuse, depression & anxiety, grief & loss, faith & spirituality, and mindfulness. Our ordained counselor is trained to address these and other issues with care and confidentiality. A sliding pay scale of fees is available and insurances are accepted. Clients may contact CPCS directly or be referred by someone such as a pastor, lawyer, physician, or friend. Clients are seen by appointment only. To make an appointment or to obtain further information, stop by our office or call between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. when a receptionist is available. The CPCS office is located in the Congregational United Church of Christ building with an entrance on Jefferson Street. Appointment times are available during both day and evening hours.
