Howard Young Medical Center is a 109-bed, acute care facility that provides health care services to residents of the state of Wisconsin. Fifty-two beds are available for general medical and surgical patients, and a 10 bed special care unit is available for more seriously ill patients. Its transitional care unit offers additional beds. The hospital s services include elderly care, emergency services, inpatient and outpatient services, outreach programs and transportation services. In 1999, it was named as a top 100 Orthopedic Hospital by establishing national benchmark performances in clinical services and procedures. The hospital was built in 1977, through a financial gift from S. Howard Young, a New York art dealer and uncle of actress Elizabeth Taylor. Howard Young Medical Center is a member of the Ministry Health Care network. Ministry operates clinics, long-term care facilities, home care agencies, dialysis centers and many other programs and services in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
