The University Medical Pavilion at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson, Miss., is designed like a mall design in the delivery of outpatient health care. All the specialty clinics open onto the mall, a more than 80,000-square-foot structure. The pavilion is the practice site for the university physicians from many disciplines who teach at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Patients can receive most of the procedures they require in the pavilion that has its own full-service lab and radiology department, including mammography, X-ray and magnetic resonance imaging. Its physical therapy room is adjacent to the orthopedics clinic and a full range of cardiology testing is also available in the pavilion, including echocardiograms and cardiac stress testing. Procedures such as bone marrow aspirations, lumbar punctures, endoscopy and minor surgery also are performed in the pavilion.
