Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport PHX is largest airport in the American Southwest and also serves as Arizona’s largest and busiest commercial airport. The Phoenix Airport is located about 3 miles to the southeast of the Phoenix city center.  As of 2011 Sky Harbor International Airport was the 15th busiest airport in the world and 9th in the United States. Annually, PHX Airport processes about 40 million passengers.

The Phoenix Airport opened in 1928 by an airline that later would go out of business due to the Wall Street Crash of 1929. In 1930 was when American Airlines started to use the airport as commercially and for airmail services.

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is easily accessible by I-10 and Highway 143 with parking options consisting of garage, uncovered, short-term, long-term and economy lots. These options include: East Economy Uncovered, Terminal 2, Terminal 3, Terminal 4 and West Economy Parking.

 

PHX Airport is comprised of 3 terminals (2,3,4) and one terminal no longer in use (1). Each terminal connects passengers by the Airport Shuttle or the PHX Sky Train.

Fourteen airlines service Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport to several destinations both domestic and abroad. Getting to and from the airport has never been easier with several options consisting of rental car, taxi, limousine, shuttles, city bus and light rail.  Once in the PHX Airport there are plenty of dining, retail and services for the passenger on the go. If staying longer than planned there are over 25 Phoenix Airport hotels within 5 miles to choose from. The Hilton Garden Inn Phoenix Airport is a safe bet considering it is next to the airport.
