St. John Lutheran Church traces its roots back to the early 20th century, when Finnish engineers migrated to Peabody to work in the prosperous tanning industry. The church has survived for more than a century and remains a small congregation that's invigorated by young families. Members and prospective members serve as ushers, lay assistants, coffee hour helpers and participants in the church's Bible study program.
