With 15,000 students, Rockville is home to the largest of Montgomery College's three community college campuses. The other campuses are located in Germantown and Takoma Park/Silver Spring.

The main goal of the wildlife research center and the geological survey is to provide the public and researchers information to help better manage our biological resources. This is the headquarters facility and the public is not permitted. The research center was established by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1936. Today the U.S. Geological Survey and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service continue to work together.
The much-anticipated Perry Hall Library opened its doors in March 2009. At more than twice the size of its 46-year-old predecessor, the 25,000-square-foot building offers drive-up window service, two group study rooms, a special area for teens, a play area for babies and toddlers, a large multimedia meeting room and a quiet reading room with a fireplace and hundreds of periodicals. There is no shortage of special events, classes and programs. On any given week, visitors can participate in multiple story times, cultural performances, Internet classes and book discussions. Howard County Library attracts residents both locally and from other counties. The librarians are knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The library has state-of-the-art equipment, a solid supply of up-to-date reference books and holds frequent talks from interesting speakers on diverse subjects. This Library is host to over 200,000 items and attracts over a half million visitors each year.
Built in 1974 and expanded in 1990, Towson's branch is the largest of the Baltimore County Public Library system. The exact numbers may change day-to-day as items pass in and out, but in an average week, patrons can expect to see dozens of rows of books, magazines, CDs, DVDs and even video games stocking the library's shelves. The library also houses a county historical collection and, for the caffeine-inclined, a cafe. The library is one of just two in the county that are open seven days a week.

The Potomac Library is a branch of the Montgomery County Libraries that offers a large collection of print books, audio books and reference books. The library also has a meeting room, a quiet study room and a 24-hour book drop. Computers, printers and WiFi are offered to library card holders.
Friends of The Library Bookstore, open in Rockville since 2004 is run by the non-profit organization Friends of the Library, Montgomery County (FOLMC). The bookstore sells new and used items including a large selection of fiction books, children's books, textbooks, comic books, magazines, music and movies. All proceeds from the bookstore sales benefit the Montgomery County public libraries.
