Founded in 1978, Tongue River Elementary School is a learning center that offers educational programs to more than 200 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. It provides classes in English, math, social studies, science, foreign languages, physical education and language arts. The school maintains poetry, chess and reading clubs. Tongue River Elementary School provides Title 1, gifted and talented and special education programs. It operates a literacy and technology lab, library and cafeteria. The school offers food, health care and transportation services. It organizes field trips and is a part of the Sheridan County School District 1, which governs elementary, middle and high schools.
