Franklin Avenue Elementary School is a member of the Pearl River School District and as such adheres to all the guidelines set forth by the district offices. The school runs a standard curriculum, as the district as a whole follows the guidelines set forth by the New York State Learning Standards. Curriculum and instruction is revised according to faculty input and education research.
The school's principal is Maureen Alaimo. There are 30 faculty members besides for Silberstein who are responsible for educating the 340 students in grades kindergarten through fourth grade. The school educates kindergarten children in two half-day sessions. All other grades are taught on the standard school schedule.
Opened in 1953, Evans Park is the oldest of the three elementary schools in the Pearl River School District. The school employs three teachers at the kindergarten and first-grade levels and four each for second, third and fourth grades. In addition to the grade-level teachers, the faculty includes specialists in speech, language, art, music, physical education, reading and ESL. Peggy Lynch is the school principal.
