Founded in 1968, the Lawrence Academy is accredited by the Southern Association of Independent Schools. The academy provides educational services to students in prekindergarten through grade 12. Its general academic curriculum includes math, literature, history, chemistry, life and earth science, and health and physical education. It organizes field trips to several educational and cultural destinations in the community. The Lawrence Academy offers a Spanish language course. The academy also conducts classes in business, psychology, sociology, journalism and desktop publishing. It supports a variety of sports activities, such as football, volleyball, basketball, golf, soccer, baseball, softball and tennis. In addition, the academy offers a range of activities that includes art, music, computer applications and physical education. The Lawrence Academy provides special education programs for students with special needs.
