Franklin Elementary School is located just to the west of downtown on Barnum Avenue (Route 1) and serves a diverse group of neighborhoods south and west of downtown. The school, one of eight K-6 elementary schools in Straford, is the oldest continuing operating public school in town, first opening in 1910. Franklin School recently celebrated its 100th anniversary.
Lordship Elementary School serves the K-6 population in the Lordship section of Stratford in the far south end of Stratford, along Long Island Sound. The school has more than 210 students and is centrally located on the peninsula. In addition to a diverse curriculum, the school features an outdoor playground and ballfield.
