South Side Middle School serves students in grades six through eight. Its academic curriculum includes programs in family and consumer science, art, computer science, Spanish, music and technology education. The school additionally offers classes in language arts, mathematics, social studies, and health and physical education. South Side Middle School also provides gifted and talented education. It organizes spelling bee competitions and after-school tutoring sessions. The school has an athletics department that offers a variety of sports activities, such as football, volleyball, baseball, basketball, golf, wrestling, cheerleading and soccer. South Side Middle School supports a student council, readers theater, and band, video production, newspaper and yearbook clubs. It is located in Hooks Town, Pa., and is a part of the South Side Area School District.
