Located in Shelbyville, Ky., East Middle School provides classes to students in grades six through eight and offers various subjects, such as math, English, science and social studies and foreign languages, including French, Spanish and Latin. It provides health and physical education, music, band, musical theater, choir and chorus, advanced art, and design construction programs. The facility comprises a human diversity council, lost and found center, media center and health clinic. The school offers peer counseling, student and teacher aides, orientation, and speech and debate competitions. It provides a wide variety of sports, including football, basketball, soccer, track, softball and cheerleading. It enrolls more than 550 students and is a part of the Shelby County Public Schools.
