Founded in 1964, McLaughlin Middle School & Fine Arts Academy provides learning opportunities to more than 600 students in grades six through eight. Its academic curriculum includes various subjects, such as language arts, math, science and social studies. The school also conducts classes in band, orchestra, chorus, guitar, visual arts, theater, dance and 2-D art. McLaughlin Middle School & Fine Arts Academy organizes various sports activities, such as basketball, wrestling, volleyball, soccer, tennis, and track and field. It conducts the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test and offers the Title I program. The school provides membership opportunities for the National Future Farmers of America and the National Junior Honor Society. McLaughlin Middle School & Fine Arts Academy is governed by the Polk County Public School District.
