Dick, Johnson & Jefferson, Inc Founded in 1960 as The Ed Dick Agency, the firm became Dick, Johnson & Jefferson, Inc in 1968 as John Johnson and Gene Jefferson became partners in the agency. Its affiliate office, Dick, Johnson & Jefferson Financial Resources, Inc, which is a life, health and financial services company, was established in 1970. Because of tremendous growth, the company initiated in 1976 the construction of the three-story corporate office building in Bradenton. In 1982, expansion continued with the establishment of a Northeast Sarasota office, which was subsequently relocated to Lakewood Ranch in 2005. An insurance agency specializing in the trucking industry, W.G. Mears Inc., joined the consortium in 1991 and today is one of the premier trucking insurance agencies in Florida. The growth of Floridas West Coast has prompted the agency to expand even further with the opening of an office in Parrish/Ellenton in 2004. Each of the offices today provides quality service and professionalism for commercial insurance, personal lines insurance, and life/health and financial services. The agency Board of Directors was established with the previous retirement of Gene Jefferson and the subsequent retirement of John Johnson in 2003, and Ed Dick in 2009 with an ownership stock purchase made up from long time fellow employees. Dick, Johnson & Jefferson, Inc has left its imprint and continues to be an active participant in many local charities and organizations including The Salvation Army, Boys & Girls Club, Palmetto Youth Center, Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranch-Bradenton/Sarasota, South County Library, Manasota Solve Inc., United Way, Chamber of Commerce and Manatee Area Youth Soccer Organization, The Guardian Angels of South West Florida Inc, to name just a few.
