The Highwood Recreation Center, offered by the City of Highwood Parks and Recreation Department, provides the public with facilities, programs and classes for adults and children. It has full basketball courts, and offers basketball instruction and programs for kids of all ages. The rec center also offers karate instruction, Zumba and Pilates instruction for kids and adults. The facility can be rented for private parties at an hourly rate.
The Alley has been around since 1949. The quaint bowling alley has been entirely updated with automated scoring, big-screen televisions, a dance floor, a full menu and bar, billiards, Baggo and a state-of-the-art sound system. Daily specials are offered for bowling, drinks and food items. Private parties for corporate events, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, kids' birthdays and more can be hosted for up to 400 people. The Alley offers an industry night on Monday, college night on Tuesday, an All-Pro Jazz Jam on Wednesday, DJ on Thursday, live music every Friday and Saturday and a blues jam on Sundays.
