Piedmont Airlines was one of the first airlines of any size with a fully operational advanced qualifications program for pilot training. The airline is a wholly owned subsidiary of US Airways Group, and is one of ten airlines doing business as US Airways Express. The airline carries more than 3 million passengers to approximately 49 destinations throughout the Eastern United States, Canada and the Bahamas. It utilizes a fleet of 55 deHavilland DHC-8 aircraft, which are turboprop aircraft that offer safe and comfortable transportation. Each of Piedmont s flights feature all the normal conveniences of modern air travel, including flight attendant service, overhead bin storage, cabin pressurization and a lavatory. Established in 1931, Piedmont Airlines has headquarters in Salisbury, Md.
