Founded in 1915, the Maryville Fire Department is a part of the city of Maryville, Tenn. The department protects citizens and their properties from the dangers of fire. It employs more than 40 full-time and over 20 reserve firefighters. The Maryville Fire Department also responds to motor vehicle accidents. The department has a fire prevention bureau that educates residents in the aspects of life and fire safety. It provides rope, excavation, confined space and cave rescue services. The department performs a variety of inspections and code enforcement activities. It provides aid in medical emergencies, as well as assists in the cleanup of chemical and hazardous waste spills. The Maryville Fire Department is accredited by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International.
