The Columbus Division of Fire consists of the fire investigation section, inspections section and the office of community relations. Its responsibilities include public education, reviewing plat and building plans for new construction, performing acceptance inspections for new fire protection equipment and investigation of suspicious and incendiary fires and fire deaths. Its office of community relations offers a variety of fire safety education programs. The division s inspection section is responsible for providing fire prevention inspection programs. In addition, inspections of places of public assembly, night clubs, arcades and nuisance abatement are also handled by the inspection section.
