The New Castle Historical Society is devoted to preserving local history, from the time of the Mahican nation to the Quaker settlement, to the building of the Greeley country estate in 1852 and up through the present. Today the Horace Greeley House is a central part of Chappaqua and serves as a pleasant reminder of times past.
The museum holds exhibits that are open to the public throughout the week. There is also a charming shop on location that offers a variety of wares, such as tea pots, afghans, scarves and note cards among other gift items.
In business for 50 years, Chappaqua Transportation is a local bus fleet. The company includes Mother Hen's Helpers, a subsidiary that provides transportation for children to and from school, music lessons, sporting activities and camps. President Joan Corwin has worked for the company for nearly 40 years. Chappaqua Transportation is a member of the Chappaqua business Hall of Fame and has been recognized by School Bus Fleet magazine.
In addition to drycleaning and laundering services, New Castle Cleaners offers reweaving, in the case of clothes that are moth-eaten, or have holes, tears, or burns. They clean evening and wedding gowns, and their same day service promises that clothes in by 11am will be out by 4pm.
