Orems Elementary School has served a diverse section of Middle River and Essex that has great historic traditions since 1960 The school serves students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade and also offers special needs and gifted and talented programs. The school has an active PTA, which volunteers to assist with the educational and community needs of the student population. During the 2008-09 school year, about 87 percent of students earned either proficient of advanced scores on state standardized reading and math tests.
For 51 years, Middleborough Elementary school has been serving the community of Baltimore County. The school strives for academic success for all of its students and to also foster a unified spirit. Middleborough Elementary is located at 313 West Road in Essex.
Located at 100 Mace Avenue, Essex Elementary serves more than 470 students in eastern Baltimore County. The school serves students in grades K-5 and offers several extracurricular activities, including chess and geography bee clubs. The recreation department located adjacent to the school has before and after-school daycare to assist working parents.
During the 2008-09 school year, more than 90 percent of students earned proficient or advanced scores in standardized state reading tests while nearly 87 percent of students scored similarly on math tests.
