Rockledge Elementary School is located across from the Bowie Golf & Country Club on MD-197. Led by Principal Pam Landry, the school is implementing a new program this year called "Rockledge Reads" to try and encourage students to develop strong reading skills. The school also scored well on the 2010 Maryland School Assessment, with students achieving scores of 90% or higher in almost every category for all grade levels tested.
Whitehall Elementary School was first opened in the 1960s to serve those in Bowie's "W" section, and, when enrollment decreased significantly, the school closed and its remaining students were moved to other nearby schools. It re-opened in 2005 and since then, Jerenze Campbell has served as the school's principal.
Northview Elementary is located on Northview Drive, just minutes from the Bowie Town Center. The school serves students from K-5, and provides before and after school care for students for an extra fee. The school is led by Principal Judith Bissett and Assistant Principal Sandra Newsome.
Holy Trinity Episcopal Day School is a private school located in Bowie. The school encompasses a pre-school, lower school and middle school, with average class sizes of about 20.
The pre-school and middle school campus is separate from the lower school campus. Holy Trinity combines a general curriculum with religion-based education and other enrichment programming in the arts. Extracurriculars and athletics are also readily available and encouraged.
