Gunn is a high school that offers a wide range of academic options for its diversified body of students. In addition to Advanced Placement and honors courses that provide rigorous preparation for college, Gunn also provides numerous resources for students with disabilities or who have limited English proficiency. The athletics program at Gunn is very robust, featuring traditionally popular sports like football and basketball in addition to badminton and golf. It also boasts numerous activities and clubs.
The CK-12 Foundation is a nonprofit organization with a unique mission: to create online collaborative environment for the production of free digital textbooks, which they call flexbooks. The organization is working to ensure the books meet curriculum guidelines and can be customized to individual needs.
Bay Area School of Performing Arts offers courses in dance, music and theater. The school provides instruction to students in Palo Alto, San Jose and Daly City. Specific courses include Creative Drama, Acting Fundamentals, Basic Acting, Songwriting, Teen and Junior Glee, Contemporary Jazz, Break Dancing, Hip Hop and Creative Movement. Spring and summer camp opportunities are available.
The EcoCenter is an environmental education center operated by the Environmental Volunteers (EV), an organization dedicated to providing children of all ages with comprehensive and hands-on education about science and the environment.
The EcoCenter serves as the administrative headquarters for EV, where members create and implement various educational programs both on-site and in the community. The EcoCenter is open on Saturdays and admission is free.
