From 1880 to 1967, the Hopkins Family owned Muscoot Farm. At that point Westchester County acquired the property to help preserve the area's agricultural history. Today the farm is open to visitors, who can stroll through the original barns and visit animals. Muscoot also offers year-round events and activities for children and adults.
Charles Department Store has been in business for more than 87 years. The ground floor of the shop — marked by hardwood floors and a stamped tin ceiling — features housewares, appliances, cookware, a shoe department and the store's specialty clothing line. Upstairs, shoppers will find quality clothes for men and women from brands such as Eileen Fisher, Pendleton, Barbour, Patagonia, Woolrich, Filson and Canada Goose. The shop is currently owned and operated by Dave and Jim Raneri, grandsons of the store's founder, Charles Raneri.
