I want my patients to feel respected and appreciated for who they are as individuals. I care about their concerns and I work with them to design a health care plan that addresses their particular needs. I take the time to explain the plan so that they can fully understand it. In the end, my goal is to serve my patients with respect and the highest quality care.

It has always been my passion to help women have full control over their health care options during all phases of their life, whether they are trying to start a family, trying to avoid pregnancy, or transitioning into later life. An important part of my job is educating my patients about their options and helping them participate in shared decision making so that they can make medical decisions based on their beliefs and priorities. In women’s health, we are often dealing with sensitive topics, so I try to be down-to-earth and easy to talk to. I’m always happy to include my patients’ family members in our discussions and decision making as long as I have my patient’s consent to have them involved. My ultimate goal is for my patients to feel empowered to make decisions that affect their body and their life.

As the staff doctor in charge of caring for my patients during their birth, my primary goals are to provide the best outcome for mothers and their babies, and to help women and their families have a sense of accomplishment as a result of the birth process. I work with my patients and their families to make the birth experience meet their expectations as much as possible. Having family support during maternity care is essential. I try to make sure that partners and family members know how much we need them to care for and advocate for mom. I feel lucky to be part of such an intimate moment in a family’s life and to have the opportunity to make a substantial difference in the health of women.

I believe that relationships and stories matter more than data in the electronic health record. I strive to create an environment of mutual trust and respect so that my patients feel comfortable talking about their health issues. Building these relationships allows us to make decisions about the treatment options that best fit their lives. I became an obstetrician because I wanted to combine my love of science with the ability to treat disease and alleviate suffering. My life has been influenced by many wise women whose words Ive listened to carefully and whose examples guide me in my work. My goal is for my patients and their families to live a happy, healthy and high-functioning life. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to help people with sensitive problems at vulnerable and frightening moments. I am fortunate to wake up every day and know that the work ahead of me is worthwhile!
