I want patients to know I am compassionate and I really care about their issues. I love to be there for my patients during some of the most vulnerable times in their lives and I want to help them get to the bottom of their GI problem.

Gastroenterology is a quickly evolving medical field, so its important to me that my patients understand whats going on. I wouldnt call myself your typical white coat doctor. Im hands-on. I like to give options and help patients choose the best option for his or her lifestyle.

I chose internal medicine because I really like solving puzzles. Many times adults have multiple health conditions and symptoms. I enjoy trying to figure out what the symptoms indicate whether there are multiple concerns going on or just one. I like being able to see the patient improve over time.

When someone gets up in the morning to go to a doctors appointment, its usually not a good day for them. It usually means something is wrong and the fact that I get to be a part of improving their quality of life is very motivating.

I enjoy looking after people. It gives me a great sense of satisfaction. When people are ill they can feel helpless. Theyre looking for answers. To be able to comfort them and answer those questions during their time of need is very rewarding.

I believe in a collaborative model of care where patients are part of the team. I consider myself a patient advocate. My job is to not only provide care based on the latest evidence and using the latest technologies and techniques, but also to educate and empower patients to be active participants in their care.
