Martha's Vineyard Community Services oversees a network of programs that provide necessary services to the island community, including access to health, education and human services. Those programs include Connect to end Violence, Early Childhood Programs, Disability Services and the Island Counseling Center. It also manages the Thrift Shop in Vineyard Haven, the proceeds of which go toward funding Community Services programs. Wiet Bacheller serves as president of the board of directors.
Merrimack Valley Family Chiropractic offers chiropractic care. Services offered include adjustments to treat specific symptoms and for long-term, general wellness. Additional services include massage and nutrition counseling. It also provides a variety of educational wellness programs and workshops. Monthly free workshops are also available to the general community.
Yawkey House of Possibilities is a grassroots organization that works to improve the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities. It was founded in August 2009 by Walpole resident Paula Kaviolus. This organization provides high-quality programming and weekend respite services for families and individuals. Its facility on the Stonehill College campus houses day and overnight social skills programs for children and teens. It also offers employment support and day programs for adults. Its mission is to help people with special needs and their families so they can make friends, develop new skills and enjoy life to the fullest within a caring and safe environment.
