Located directly across the street from the Lemon Grove Trolley Station, Highland Smoke Shop has a little bit of everything. Specializing in tobacco products, they offer a vast variety of cigarettes, cigars and accessories for pipe and hookah smokers. It is a convenient stop for cell phone products, tobacco and other novelty items. T-shirts, reggae music, caps, piercings, CD's, watches and more are offered here.
Lemon Grove Deli has a roster of regular customers; when they walk in the door, the employees ask, "The usual?" Regulars are greeted by name and newcomers are welcomed. The extensive deli menu includes grilled sandwiches (steak and chicken), hamburgers, hot roast beef and ham sandwiches, garden burgers, Reubens and Kielbasa. There are about 20 specialty sandwiches and recently-added hot wings on the menu. The restaurant caters and sells meats and cheeses by the pound. There's a breakfast sandwich and bagel-wich menu to get the day started.
The Techron gasoline (with cleaning capability) at the popular Chevron is often more expensive than gasoline at Arco or lesser-known chain stations, but Chevron's stations have many amenities too. Chevron on Broadway has an Extra Mile convenience store, with inexpensive hot food, fountain drinks, and coffee. It is stocked with snacks and items drivers may need for road trips.The station has an air station and car wash attached too.
Since 1972, Grove Grinder has served Lemon Grove with fresh deli grinders, soups and salads. Part deli and part antique store, Grove Grinder is reminiscent of a step back in time. Containing a large selection of old-fashioned bottled soda, it offers over 50 varieties of root beer, and antique collectibles line the walls of this small cafe. Grove Grinder is home to Lemon Grove's award-winning chili and serves special BBQ every second weekend of the month.
