Hugs Plus Learning Center is a Massachusetts-based group of early childhood education specialists. It offers programs for children between the ages of one month and six years. Aside from this Braintree location, Hugs Plus also hosts a facility in Stoughton. All staff members are professionally trained classroom teachers.
Established in 1982, Magic Years is located at the All Souls Church on Elm Street. Director and owner Deborah A. Culkin oversees the school and its indoor classrooms and outside play area with jungle gym. Kids ages 3 to 5 are welcome. The school teaches basics like social skills, language proficiency, motor control and number recognition.
Hugs Plus has a positive learning approach to early childhood education. With classes for children one month old up to kindergarten age, Hugs Plus promises to socialize its students and help them build their self confidence, not to mention learn skills appropriate for their development stage.
Braintree Head Start is part of a national public program that provides early childhood education and subsidized child care for children of low-income families. Programs are designed to get children ready for school by encouraging their social and intellectual development. The program also addresses physical wellness for pre-school aged children.
Braintree After School Enrichment (or BASE) is a licensed non-profit child care program that was launched by Roselyn Karll in 1985. Since then it's evolved from 2 rented rooms in the Braintree High School building to a full-on facility that enrolls over 300 children annually. between pre-school age and seven years old. The program has many rotating facets including a basketball clinic, gymnastics (in conjunction with Joan's Olympic Gym), yoga, karate, W.E.B.B. (Weekends Enriching Braintree and Beyond) and movie nights. There are before-school sessions as well. The program is now run by Karll's duahgters since her untimely passing in 2002.
