Beloved for its holiday production of excerpts from "The Nutcracker," the Island Youth Ballet/The Children's Dance Conservatory has supported local repertory dance performance and talent for nearly 30 years. School Founder Susan Valencia teaches a variety of ages and skill levels in the little red Lakeview School house on the Island's South End.
The dance conservatory features a large studio with mirrors, two chandeliers and wall-mounted ballet bars. The school also owns a variety of costumes and sets used for its annual holiday show.
Having just moved into a brand new, 4,000-square-foot facility in the South Mercer Shopping Center, Definitive Dance is thriving. With two new studios featuring Stagestep flooring, Definitive Dance is superbly equipped to teach tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical and theatre dance to students of all ages. As the dancer progresses, the student may earn a place in the award-winning Definitive Dance Company.
