Blount County Records Division, governed by the Sheriff s Office, maintains and archives records and documents throughout the year. The division s services has to comply with annual audits from state and federal agencies, such as the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation to maintain certification. It is also responsible for the National Crime Information Computer, which requires operators to recertify every two years. NCIC clerks validate records, train personnel, enter stolen and wanted information into the computer and check driver s licenses. Additionally, the division maintains personnel records, payroll, purchasing, accounts payable and receivable, detention facility records and adult criminal histories.
