The Marion County Sheriff s Office is a law enforcement agency that protects residents lives, property and individual rights, as well as maintains peace and order. It operates a 528-bed jail facility that also maintains a 144-bed work release facility and administers various inmate work programs in the facility and in the community. The Marion County Sheriff s Office also has a civil division that responds to legal processes directed to the sheriff, including writs of execution, evictions, notices, provisional and enforcement processes, and various other court orders and documents. In addition, the office has a search and rescue team that provides personnel for ground searches for missing persons, evidence of crimes and other related missions.
