Located in Bismarck, N.D., the Burleigh County Sheriff s Department is a full-service law enforcement agency that supports civil, investigations, enforcement, warrants, transport and training divisions. It also operates a detention center that houses more than 130 convicted criminals and detainees in pending trials. The Burleigh County Sheriff s Department has a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team that specializes in bomb disposal and hostage and barricaded gunman situations. In addition, the department maintains a dive rescue and recovery team that offers services related to evidence, property, body and vehicle recovery. The Burleigh County Sheriff s Department conducts a variety of crime prevention educational programs and awareness seminars regarding burglary prevention, vacation checks, ATM security, and lottery and Internet scams.
