The St. Bernard Parish Sheriffs Office provides law enforcement services, promotes public safety and protects the rights and property of the nearly 70,000 residents in St. Bernard Parish, La. In addition, it works closely with the school board, district attorney and judges to provide an in-school and suspension-on-site program, an alternative school for at-risk students, a monthly local-access cable television crime prevention and training show that reaches nearly 17,000 homes, and oversees a state-of-the-art prison and juvenile detention facility. The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff s Office employs nearly 350 deputies and staff members.

Founded in 1998, the Terrebonne Parish Juvenile Detention Center provides short-term care for juveniles who are accused, adjudicated pending court action and awaiting transfer to another facility.
