The Polk County Sheriffs Office is a full-service law enforcement agency serving Polk County, Fla. It provides law enforcement services, including civil and criminal processing, assistance to municipal agencies, and crime prevention and educational programs. The office employs more than 500 civilians and approximately 570 sworn and over 420 certified officers. The Polk County Sheriffs Office is approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies and the Public Safety Communications Accreditation Program. It has a vice unit that handles investigation of prostitution, lewd activity in county parks, adult establishments, pornography, regulation of alcoholic beverage laws and escort services. In addition, the Polk County Sheriffs Office has a gang unit and auto-theft task force.
