Polk County Clerk of the Circuit Court is the ex-officio clerk of the Board of County Commissioners, as well as auditor, recorder and custodian of all county funds. In 1973, the Florida Constitution created a unified Clerk of the Circuit Court for Polk County. The clerk is the chief financial officer for the county and serves as the comptroller and treasurer. It also keeps records and makes required reports of monies received and disbursed by the board. The Polk County Fire Services Division, commonly called Polk County Fire Rescue, is the fire service branch of the Polk County Public Safety Department, which is part of the Polk County Board of County Commissioners. PCFSD provides fire service for the unicorporated portions of Polk County in Florida through a network of 28 fire stations and a series of interlocal agreements with most of the 17 municipalities in Polk City, Fla. The Polk County Emergency Medical Services focuses on prehospital treatment and transportation. The division responds to all 911 emergency medical calls and provides the only paramedic ambulance service within Polk County, Fla.
