Since its opening in 1976, the Steger-South Chicago Heights Library has accumulated more than 8,000 regular borrowers from the Steger and South Chicago Heights areas. The library is run by a board of seven elected trustees and is staffed with 10 employees. The library's children's wing was built using grant money from the Illinois State Library and an Illinois First Grant.
