The Windham Regional Community Council, also known as WRCC, is a nonprofit organization that works toward improving the health and social well-being of the residents of Windham and Tolland counties in Connecticut. The organization administers and creates self-help programs for more than 25,000 individuals. Founded in 1974, it offers teen pregnancy and substance abuse prevention programs for over 4,000 youths and nearly 300 parents. The Windham Regional Community Council s early care and education program provides services to approximately 60 children between the ages of 3 and 5. The organization also offers the New Heights Child Development Program, which specializes in educational, health, nutrition and family services for enrolled families. The Windham Regional Community Council promotes school readiness and literacy in partnership with Windham Public Schools. The organization s Fetal and Infant Mortality Review is an ongoing community process for assessing, planning, improving and monitoring the maternal child health service system. Its Immunization Action Plan is funded through the Department of Public Health.
