With an office in Tacoma, Wash., the workforce development system is a comprehensive network of community partners working collaboratively that helps individuals to obtain the skills necessary for employment. It has partnerships with school districts, postsecondary educational institutions, government agencies, labor organizations, community-based nonprofits and businesses. The workforce development system is designed to be a collaborative model for effectively delivering resources and services that result in full employment for the residents of Pierce County, Wash., and profit for businesses. Its service partners include the Metropolitan Development Council, Tacoma Community House, Tacoma-Pierce County Employment & Training Consortium and Vadis. The system serves adults, youths and dislocated workers.
