This is the location for the Avon Lake Municipal Utilities water filtration plant responsible for providing clean water to 180,000 individuals in seven counties. The water filtration plant, created in 1925, now has the ability to treat 40 million gallons of water every day and uses state-of-the-art technology to remove dirt and bacteria. The plant provides high-quality water to people in a 600-square-mile area and is one of the largest plants in Northeast Ohio. The Water Pollution Control Center, established in 1960, has undergone several expansions. The center is responsible for ensuring that waste water is treated before returning to Lake Erie. The wastewater plant is beside Beachpark Towers. This location, which sits on Lake Erie's shores, is strictly for treating water. The Avon Lake Municipal Utilities maintains management offices on Miller Road.
This branch of the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles attends to license renewals, vehicle registration including boats and issuing plates. Drivers can order personalized plates at this location, which also serves as a title service.
This location does not have testing capabilities and does not manage reinstatement for suspended licenses. Watercraft registration is available Feb. 1 through Oct. 31.

The Avon Lake Service Department is responsible for maintaining the city streets, right-of-ways, the storm water system and traffic control signs and lights. This is a four-season job, from leaf pickup in the fall, to mowing and planting in the summer and spring, and snow removal in the winter. The department is also responsible for the maintenance of city-owned buildings and parkland. Lorain County residents can visit this location for free compost.

ALMU's executive offices are located on Miller Road and are open to the public for questions, bill paying and setting up service.
ALMU is also accountable for a multimillion dollar sewer-separation project that has been ongoing for the past decade and will continue through to 2020. The project requires that storm water and sewer lines are separated to ensure the health of Lake Erie.
Water utility customers can go to the department's website to find out about billing, water rates, algae, how to set up auto-pay service and backflow requirements for inground sprinklers, as well as to obtain the annual water quality report.
Residents of Avon Lake enjoy one of the lowest water rates in the Greater Cleveland area, as well as quality water. The water rated as one of the "best tasting" in the country several years ago.
The Avon Lake Municipal Court serves the cities of Avon, Avon Lake and Sheffield Village. The court handles misdemeanor criminal and traffic cases and refers felony cases to the grand jury of the Lorain County Court of Common Pleas. The court has one part-time judge, Darrel Bilancini.
The court is in session on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Traffic and criminal case proceedings are held between 8am and 12:30pm. Civil cases are heard from 1:30pm to 4pm.
The court maintains a website where court records can be searched and other information concerning the court can be found. The Avon Lake Municipal Court is located within the city's Safety Center on Walker Road, which also houses the Avon Lake police and fire departments.

City council meetings are held in council chambers at 150 Avon Belden Road. Chambers are on the second floor. Council meetings are held on Monday nights (except holidays and summer break) at 7:30pm. Meetings are broadcast live on ALC-TV Channel 12 and rebroadcast on the Internet at avonlake.pegcentral.com.
Council meetings are attended by the finance director, city engineering manager, part-time law director, council members, the mayor and clerk of council.
