This administration building houses the training center for the West Bloomfield Township Fire Department. It is located on the south side of Maple Road between Orchard Lake and Middlebelt roads in the same building as Station #5. In 2009, the West Bloomfield Fire Department responded to 6,065 calls for service. Its chief is Jay Wiseman.
Housed in a historic downtown building, the Farmington Downtown Development Authority is headquarters for all downtown activities. The DDA manages four large events during the years: Art on the Grand in June, Farmington Area Founders Festival in July, Harvest Moon in October and Holly Days in December. The DDA is responsible for the Farmington Farmers and Artisans Market, which is open in the Walter E. Sundquist Farmington Pavilion and Riley Park from May through November. In addition, the DDA administers the Main Street downtown revitalization program, which marshals an army of volunteers who assisted in development of the Streetscape project and continue to promote the central business district.
The Wyandotte branch of the Social Security Administration serves the Downriver region. Social Security questions and claims can be addressed at the branch office. Consumers also can apply for a new Social Security card or sign up for other services, including SSI and Medicare. People are encouraged to first visit the Social Security Administration's Web site to get many of their issues taken care of without having to visit a branch office.
