The Norwood Affordable Housing Corporation is a non-profit Masschusetts based organization that makes sure good, safe housing is available for all. Its office is located inside the Frank Walsh Elderly Care Home. The Corporation raises funds to aid for the renovation and construction of housing facilities to provide shelter for low-income and disabled Norwood residents.
The main office is located on the first floor where residents can enroll in a program, rent a meeting room, obtain a field permit, purchase a membership or "check in" for the day. The ground floor also houses offices, meeting rooms, a game room, men's and women's locker rooms with sauna and workout center. The second floor has a gymnasium, meeting rooms, a fully equipped kitchen and a full service arts and crafts room. The third floor houses the school of dance with studio and parents' room.
Then central adminstration offices for the Norwood public schools are located within the James R. Savage Educational Center at 275 Prospect St. Here, you'll find the Superintendent and Assistent Superintendent of Schools, and the directors and staff of finance, operations, and transportation, as well as the offices for buildings and grounds, food services, technology and special education.
The adminstration offices have several entrances. The handicap entrance for the building is located at the far right end--the end closest to Prospect street.
Norwood Light and Broadband is the town-owned cable, internet and phone service available to residents of Norwood. The office is located just behind the town hall on Central Street, but many of the transactions can be completed online, including bill payments.
High-speed internet, HD TV, DVR and unlimited phone packages are all available in different combinations and at different rates. Norwood Light and Broadband prides itself on keeping residents' money invested in the town, rather than paying an outside cable company, and caters to local businesses and apartment complexes as well.
Norwood Town Hall is a landmark in the center of Norwood, located just off of Norwood's bustling and historic downtown area. It's also home to a majority of the town offices, including the assessor, town clerk, building department, selectmen's office, veteran's department, health department, treasurer and general manager. The Town Hall is where weekly selectmen's meetings—open to the public—take place on Tuesday evenings.
The Norwood Self Help Council on Aging is a non-profit organization focused on helping Norwood's senior citizens adapt to senior life. Located off of Prospect Street near downtown Norwood, the Council welcomes residents of Norwood over the age of 60 to discuss a variety of topics as well as help them gain assistance in programs they are eligible for, including electric, gas, and food programs as well as social security and volunteer programs.
