In addition to sharing a building with the fire department, the South Chicago Heights Police provides both emergency and non-emergency services to the community. With a staff of more than 30, nearly half of whom are patrol men, the SCPD maintains 13 vehicles and holds citation hearings on the second Thursday of each month.

The Senior Center (or Pavilion) is a South Chicago Heights city-owned property that houses the village's sponsored public events. The center is also rented out to the community members for other events. It has a large picnic pavilion, a walking trail and a veteran's memorial near the corner of Enterprise Park and West Sauk Trail.

The Road District (also known as the Highway Department) maintains and services the roads and vehicles designated to Bloom Township. This includes the roads in Chicago Heights and Olympia Fields, as well as the buses that serve Bloom Township schools.
The Veterans Center, operated by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, is a readjustment program aimed at helping veterans with counseling and outreach services. The center focuses specifically on veterans who fought the Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, Persian Gulf and Vietnam conflicts.
Composed of code inspectors, building inspectors and health inspectors, the City's Code Enforcement department oversees administrative, residential and construction protocols throughout Chicago Heights. The department verifies code conpliance in structures and businesses.
When it comes to paying the bills for Chicago Heights, the city's treasurer is in charge. Preparing the city's budget and recording all financial transactions also fall under the responsibilities of the office. The treasurer's office is located inside City Hall.
The Chicago Heights City Council currently consists of six elected alderpersons and an elected mayor, but in April 2011, the wards will be restructured to include a seventh ward. The positions of city treasurer and city clerk will be elected rather than appointed. City Hall is the home of the council chambers, where the Chicago Heights city council meets on the first and third Mondays of every month.
This recruiting station is part of the 9th Marine Corps Recruiting District. It's one of two in the south suburbs, with the other located in Oak Lawn. It recruits interested young men and women to begin a career with the U.S. marines and offer pamphlets, discussions and information on many topics covering available careers.
A prime location from which commercial drivers obtain and renew their license plates, G.A.L.S. is an alternative to visiting the Chicago Heights driver's facility, which does not allow special plate orders. G.A.L.S. helps with filing 2290 tax forms for heavy highway vehicles. The facility also renews plates for passenger vehicles.
Based at City Hall, the maintenance department oversees the continued preservation of the traffic signals, street lights, street signs and all city-owned buildings and property in Chicago Heights. The maintenance department works cohesively with the water department along with the street and sewer department.
