Wildomar is located along Interstate 15 in Riverside County and comprises about 24 square miles within its city limits and is home to nearly 25,000 residents.

Wildomar officially became a city on July 1, 2008.

The name Wildomar was coined from the first few letters of the city founders' first names: William Collier, Donald Graham and Margaret Collier Graham.

In its early days, Wildomar had been an outpost for the pony express for the Butterfield Stage, and in the first part of the 20th century the area was a stop for the Southern California Railroad.

Throughout the century, however, the railroad fell victim to storms that washed out tracks in the area. As a result of the railroad's eventual demise, the region's growth slowed and Wildomar remained a farming and ranching area well into the late 20th century.

It wasn't until construction of the I-15 freeway that growth began in Wildomar. Although many homes and businesses have sprouted up in the area, Wildomar still maintains a mixture of urban and rural lifestyles.
