The Philadelphia District Attorneys Office is one of the largest offices in the United States. It offers a range of investigation and prosecution services. The office serves more than 1 million citizens and employs a work force of over 600 people. It operates through administration, trials, investigations, juvenile and law divisions. The Philadelphia District Attorneys Office is responsible for the prosecution of nearly 75,000 criminal cases every year. It handles the pre-trial preparation of criminal cases, prison litigation, and extradition and fugitive matters. The offices narcotics division coordinates with police districts and community groups, as well as local, state and federal agencies. It also handles cases, such as identity theft, bank fraud, embezzlement, counterfeit check schemes, forgeries and environmental crimes. The Philadelphia District Attorneys Office assists victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse. In addition, it has a witness services unit that provides assistance with written and oral victim impact statements.
