Silver Star Communications is one of the leading providers of local telephone service, long distance and Internet service in Star Valley, Wyo. The company is an affiliate of Teton Telecom, based in Teton Valley, Wyo., and together, encompass more than 2,800 square miles of territory. Silver Star Telephone Company became Silver Star Communications in 1997 to recognize the broader communication services the company provides, including Internet, long distance, business phone systems and fiber optic communications. In 1997 Columbine Telephone Company, an affiliate of Silver Star Communications, located in Colorado, purchased the Qwest assets in Teton County, Idaho. Columbine began doing business as Teton Telecom and serves Driggs, Felt, Tetonia, and Victor, Idaho and Alta and Leigh Canyon, Wyo. As a combined company, Silver Star and Teton Telecom has grown from three employees and 230 customers to nearly 60 employees and more than 9,000 customers.
